Friends of Huntington Anti-Bias Task Force (FoHABTF)

supports the mission and activities of the Huntington Anti-Bias Task Force (HABTF) -- a non-partisan group formed by the Town of Huntington in conjunction with the Suffolk County Anti-Bias Task Force. HABTF is made up of concerned clergy, community representatives and lay persons who work together to address the issue of intolerance, prejudice, discrimination and racism in any segment of our Town.

Intolerance, discrimination, racism and prejudice against persons because of their race, color, national origin, ancestry, ethnicity, class, religion, religious practice, age (over 60), disability (physical or mental), gender or sexual orientation tear at the fabric of the Huntington community.

The HABTF works to prevent and combat intolerance, prejudice, discrimination and racism, and defuse their destructive effects in several ways, including but not limited to:

  • Reaching out in an impartial manner to bring together involved parties for dialogue;

  • Fostering a network of local clergy and community representatives to develop responsible leadership, working in partnership with the Task Force;

  • Working with and through appropriate Town channels to dismantle societal structures which lead to bias, hatred and misunderstanding;

  • Networking with educational, government and law enforcement agencies to combat prejudice, discrimination, racism and its destructiveness;

  • Supporting programs of education to eliminate bias and hatred;

  • Standing up against intolerance, discrimination, racism and prejudice against persons because of their race, ethnicity, color, national origin, ancestry, class, religion, religious practice, age (over 60), disability (physical or mental), gender or sexual orientation.
